Great way to spend a Saturday afternoonApril 11, 2011
The weather this weekend called me to take a trip to Carmel where the statue of Sybil Ludington stands. My drive began on Route 9 where I passed the Dutch Reformed Church in Fishkill that housed prisoners during the American Revolution. Enoch Crosby was one of those prisoners. I continued on Route 84 until I came to Ludingtonville Road. Here stands one of the historical markers of Sybil’s night ride. I followed Route 52, meandering my way to Carmel through lovely countryside and quaint hamlets. The statue stands on the edge of the lake, majestically acknowledging the amazing feat of such a young girl. On my way back I explored Farmers Mills Road and then headed home on Route 52. Great trip for a Saturday afternoon.
